The wooden Amphitheatre is a part of the restoration of public space “Square 21” – a park in the city of Dobropillya (Donetsk region). The square itself is located near Festivalna Street, 21. Square 21 provides an opportunity to hold themed events in the park (film screenings, festivals, workshops, meetings, etc.), unite communities to make joint decisions and initiate change in their own city. Citizens began to organize fairs, exhibitions, photo shoots, spend their free time in the park with children.
The project was implemented by the NGO “Garden City” and the project “Strengthening Public Confidence” (UCBI II) with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Amphitheater is located around the Palace of Culture of Dobropillya. The park itself is a typical representative of the Soviet heritage. Adult trees are located on the site. We deliberately place the space in the depths of the park, chose the most free area and saved absolutely all the trees.
The Amphitheater is made of environmentally friendly materials. The request to “create a public space in eco-style” came from local residents of Dobropillya. This indicates a decrease in consumer attitudes to life.
The space is created entirely of terrace decking (pine) with a protective oil finish and heat protection.
A circle of like-minded people has formed around the space, who are actively becoming members of the Friends of the Park Club. Being a friend of space is an honorable mission and a common world practice. During the creation of the space, local residents were actively involved in the development of the concept, brand, architectural plan, design of the park, learned to cooperate with local authorities, conducted independently and participated in various activities.
